Core B: Library Synthesis, Formatting, and Creation

The library synthesis, library formatting, and compound management core is the central organization that coordinates and balances the chemistry needs of the four CMLD projects.

The reaction/library development section sets up and maintains the custom-designed automated reaction station. The station is used to execute both solution-phase reactions and solid-phase reactions under inert atmosphere in a high-throughput format.

The core facility contains state-of-the-art analytical instruments and robotics, providing central analytical and library formatting support for all CMLD projects, as well as providing the supply of solid supports for all library realization projects.

Once a library has been generated by one of the CMLD projects, it is arrayed into an appropriate format by the core staff before being released for biological screening. The core is responsible for storing libraries created by all four CMLD projects, and coordinates the distribution of chemical libraries to various screening activities across the organization.

The core interacts with the CMLD Cheminformatics Core to correlate the storage of compounds with information regarding their synthesis, calculated molecular descriptors, and biological activity.
