November, 2005: We now have 2295 samples from 98 different breeds!

Thank you for helping us with our project!

We at the dog genome project would like to thank all the people who have donated samples from their dogs over the past year.

We would especially like to acknowledge those of you who came and donated at the Labrador Retriever Specialty show in Topsfield, MA and The Golden Retriever Club of America National Specialty show in Gettysburg, PA where we received over 600 donations!

In addition, we want to give a huge thank you to all those wonderful dog owners (and the dogs themselves, of course!) who have sent us samples in the mail, including the veterinarians who have taken the time to collect from their patients. The Leonberger Club of America as well as the American Bullmastiff Association have been some of our top contributors through the mail!

Please continue to send us blood samples for our genome-wide association studies of osteosarcoma, hemangiosarcoma, melanoma, lymphoma, mammary cancer, and mast cell tumors. Affected dogs and older, healthy dogs are our highest priority.

Do you have (another!) dog that wants to help?
