Java Runtime Environment

Before you'll be able to use Haploview, you'll need two pieces of software: Haploview itself and the Java Runtime Environment (JRE). Get the newest version of the JRE at:

http://www.java.com/

Advanced users can find a variety of older versions of the JRE, plus additional development files at the Java developers website.

N.B. Haploview is designed to work with JRE v1.4 or later. It is strongly recommended, however, that you download and install the latest version of the JRE available for your operating system. Sun is constantly improving Java and (more importantly) fixing bugs that crop up.

Windows

Download the Haploview windows installer (hapinstall.exe) from:

Windows Installer

Install Haploview by doubleclicking the installer file. The installer should create a Haploview folder in your Start Menu. To run the program, click on "Haploview.jar" file in that folder.

Mac OSX and Unix

Download the Haploview JAR file (Haploview.jar) from:

Haploview.jar

The program can be run by typing java -jar Haploview.jar on the command line. If your Mac is configured correctly, you should be able to start the program by double-clicking on the jar file.
