Genetic Variation

Genome research includes analysis of the variations that occur between members of the same species as well as across species. Understanding these variations can lead to unprecedented knowledge about human origins, complex traits, susceptibility to disease and variable response to drug therapies.

There are several layers of variation that require intensive large-scale efforts, from single nucleotide polymorphisms through detailed analysis of entire genomes
